Stars: Jim Jefferies , Adele Vuko , Alex Williamson
The zombie apocalypse has just hit blue collar Australia. Darryl, a mid-twenties telecom tradesman and larrikin Aussie bloke, gets trapped in a telephone exchange with several of his co-workers. Although the world has gone to ruin, Darryl is still trying to convince his bosses Roy and Joel to let him join his prestigious indoor cricket team. Two things stand in his way: the current zombie apocalypse and the fact that Darryl has killed Roy's now-zombie wife and had sex with his daughter, Emma. .
Director: Umberto Lenzi (1980) Italy
Stars: Hugo Stiglitz, Laura Trotter, Maria Rosaria Omaggio
Long before zombies took up jogging in 28 Days Later and Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake, they were brandishing axes and other sharp implements in Umberto Lenzi's utterly insane radiation-sickness opus Nightmare City. In true Zombie Flesh Eaters form, our story begins with the arrival of an ominous, seemingly unmanned craft – in this instance, a military plane making an unscheduled landing at a European airport. Upon forcing the aircraft doors open, the waiting soldiers get a nasty shock when out bursts a horde of flesh-hungry, pizza-faced radioactive ghouls.
Director: Henry Hobson (2015) US
Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger , Abigail Breslin , Joely Richardson
After a couple of weeks seeking out his teenage daughter Maggie, Wade finds her in the quarantine wing of a hospital. Maggie has been infected by a lethal outbreak that transforms the victim into a zombie. Wade's friend Dr. Vern Kaplan releases Maggie to spend her last days with Wade and her family. Her stepmother Caroline asks Wade to take their little kids to her sister's house to keep them safe. While Maggie is slowly transformed, Wade stays with her protecting Maggie. But Dr. Vern warns him that the moment that he will have to take an ultimate decision is closer.
Directors: Jonathan Milott & Cary Murnion (2015) US
Starring: Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson & Alison Pill
COOTIES is a horror comedy with unexpected laughs and unapologetic thrills. When a cafeteria food virus turns elementary school children into killer zombies, a group of misfit teachers must band together to escape the playground carnage. The film stars Elijah Wood (The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings), Rainn Wilson ("The Office"), and Alison Pill ("The Newsroom") as teachers who fight to survive the mayhem while hilariously bickering in an uncomfortable love triangle on the worst Monday of their lives.
Director: Dan Rickard (2015) United Kingdom
Starring: Dan Rickard, Chris Wandell & Samantha Bolter
DARKEST DAY... Dan wakes up on Brighton beach with no memory of the past few days. As he ventures into the city, he discovers chaos and destruction as it is in the grip of a deadly zombie-like virus. He takes refuge with a small group of survivors, who are suspicious of him at first. When it becomes clear that the army are hunting for Dan and will not hestitate to shoot to kill, the group are forced to move on, into the dangers of the changed city, and the dual threats of the undead and the military on their trail. Introduction from the Director followed by a Q&A session after the screening!
