Zombie Film Review:

Last of The Living

Director: Logan McMillan

Year: 2008

Tagline: Those Damned Dead Just won't Die !!!

Review: This low budget Zombie no-brainer is excellent. It does show exactly how ‘survival' priorities may vary. In darker times, guns might have been a priority but now it's simply staying alive and drinking booze and grabbing music!! And it's Ford Cortina-tastic… What this film has that many of its kind lack, it completely plausible characters whose priority is not saving the world, but focus more on living…

Zombie Quality: **

Varying in quality from contact wearing, limb missing, good make up jobs to a bit of splashed claret, all of which build into a convincing population of the Living Dead…

Zombie Behaviour: ***

Shambling, biting, rubbish Zombies with a penchant for popping up when least expected, so pretty much the normal fare you'd expect… Nothing cutting edge in the zombies behaviour which is exactly what we love here at Terror4fun…

Zombie Threat: ****

As there are only a handful of people alive and they're so inbred it's ridiculous, the virus and the undead have done their damage, the empty city scenes work as well as, or even better than, those in 28 Days Later…

Gore Content: **

A few bits, some brain matter and a beautiful shot gun blast do not make ‘Brain Dead' but there's enough to keep here to keep things chugging along nicely…

Overall Quality: ****

Destined to become a cult classic, the characters in this excellent New Zealand produced film should become synonymous with how realistic and simply how shallow people could become so bloody funny when the dead walk the earth… If you want to make a low budget, zombie feature then producing something this good should be your aim... Simple as that....
